Matt's Photo

Working as a director, editor, cinematographer, and camera operator, Matthew seeks to master the art and technology of filmmaking down to the smallest detail. He has worked as an editor on a wide variety of projects, including movie trailers, music videos, live events, electronic press kits, machinima, reality television, as well as eleven short films. One of which “By Means of Natural Selection”, won a Gold Award for Best Editing in the 2006 L.A. 168 hour film festival. He has also edited three feature films to date.

Matthew Herrier was born in Santa Monica, California. With his mother and father being stage and screen actors, Matthew was immersed in the Hollywood scene from a very early age. At Palisades Charter High School (1998-2002) he was a part of the “Media Academy” program, started with a generous grant from Dreamworks; it was the only program of its kind at the time.

Matthew later attended Santa Monica College where he took every available film class and soon became president of the Film Club. He has also worked on several films at The Los Angeles Film School, including being the editor of the thesis film, “The Gulch”. As a student, he has received numerous awards for his films, including Best Cinematography, Best Editing, Best Director, and Best Film.

"For me, there is only perfection, and varying degrees of failure."
